Gran Canaria is a pleasing island in the Canaries. The weather is a lovely temperate all year round, and the environment is different and worthy of note. Although scores of folks stay there simply for the beach and the night life in Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles, there is to a great extent more to do and look at. Car rental in Gran Canaria is straightforward and reasonably priced, so why not rent a car and see the remainder of the island?
If you are travelling on your own, you may want to stay in the smaller towns, fishing village, sand dunes, fruit plantations, and volcanic craters that are a bit further from the hotels and urban areas.
Las Palmas International Airport is 17 kilometres south of the city of Las Palmas. Every one of the island resorts can be accessed by the main north/south highway, so it makes sense to rent a vehicle right at the airport, and not have to deal with taxis, buses, and transfers that have not been built-in with your tickets.
The car hire desks are within the ground floor of the airport, in the walkway that connects EU and International arrivals. If transfers came with your travel package, you can rent your car at most of the more reputable hotels, or in the city centre.
After you are settled in your hotel, intend a day expedition with your Gran Canaria hire vehicle to Sioux City, a theme park dedicated to ‘Westerns’, or Guayadeque National Park, an ancient cave settlement that was the home of the Guanche race of aborigines, who were the primary inhabitants of the island.
